Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice, Biomedical Engineering (NTT)

Responsibilities:
The University of Akron, Department of Biomedical Engineering seeks applicants for a non-tenure track position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice beginning Fall Semester of 2021. The appointment is for one academic year (9 months) with possibility of renewal annually. The faculty member is expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels; mentor and advise students; and assist with department and college activities. Candidates should have practical professional experience and should be able to share real-world knowledge with students in classroom or experiential settings. Academic rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Qualifications:
Doctorate in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related discipline; proficiency with active learning; and comfortable supporting hands-on laboratory components. It is expected that the candidate will provide outstanding teaching and support the pedagogical mission of the Department of Biomedical Engineering and the College of Engineering and Polymer Science.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in teaching multiple biomedical engineering disciplines, such as: biocomputing; medical imaging; biotransport; biophysical measurements; bioinformatics; biostatistics; and/or biomechanics is desirable.
